If there's one instrument that requires proper skills to be soloed on it is the double-bass. After all, our ears are almost wired to hear the low frequencies as the accompaniment, blame it on the modern trends of course.
Tomas Raae is a Danish double-bassist who's masterfully played "O Tysta Ensamhet" is a prime example of how glowingly present and melodic can this instrument be when handled by a skilled musician. Jazzy and free the track exhibits the best of playing skills but also stands the test of being a work of art - a bulletproof combination really.
