
The Rashomon Effect is a New York-based project ran by Doug Merlino, who has recently released a peculiar and eclectic piece of ambient/far-east music entitled ''Leopard''.
Leading in on what sounds like a sitar or a similar instrument, it is not before too long that the eclecticism of the composition becomes evident, when an array of ambient and synth sounds, along with a bass enter the sonic spectrum. While the semi-improvised sitar continues to act as the lead component, the artist also allows the rich background to take the spotlight every now and then - and rightfully so, as it features intricate phasing synth sounds and other audible treats.
