Matthew Avery "Shadows": Where there's shadow, there is light.

Matthew Avery is an American pianist who came to our attention with a beautifully moody, recently released piece entitled "Shadows".

Loyal to its title the music does stem from a heavy-hearted core. Nevertheless, rather than succumbing to some kind of mystery, the piece seems to find comfort and even beauty in the dusk of its domain. Dynamically consistent the pianist puts the focus on the melody, which serenades the title quite accurately with its minor key, but also with mild uplifting hints - after all, there can't be shadow without light.
