João de Nóbrega Pupo is a Portugese composer/pianist who's recent art-music release entitled "Music of Changes" we are listening to today.
Free of robust form, the piano swings in on seemingly spontaneous notes, which - as the song progresses - begin to reemerge with increasingly more intent, as well as evoking a certain mood. That mood, much like the music itself, is rather abstract and interpretative, signaling both vulnerability as well as fluidity and readiness. The soundscape is enriched and completed with string drones and other backing sweeps, all fitting ideally in this brave, experimental piece of art music.
Snobriety will love this, the rest will at least be intrigued:
